WORKSHOPS

A World Worth Imagining exists to inspire hope as we work together to forge new paths and ways of being with each other and the planet.   It is here to hold the vision and to be a conversation starter as we move forward.

With this in mind, I am excited to be offering a few different workshops for students and educators.

Student Workshops

A World Worth Imagining- 4-hour hands-on workshop (geared for grade 6 and up)

Using A World Worth Imagining as a catalyst for discussion, activities and idea sharing, this hands-on workshop is designed to help cultivate hope in our young people as they move forward feeling the weight and responsibility of climate change.  The ultimate goal is that by connecting with the earth, co-creating a vision of the world they want to live in, and taking immediate steps to make it happen, it
will plant a seed.  This seed will not only inspire action, but will be that voice that speaks up when change seems impossible, “but, what if…”.

The specific activities chosen for the workshop are tailored to the groups age and size, however they all follow a similar format.
Activity samples are provided.

WORKSHOP FORMAT

CONNECTING TO THE WONDER:  The workshop starts by spending time
connecting with the wonder of the natural world. It is this sense of awe and wonder that grows into compassion, respect and stewardship.  These activities help nurture our connection to the earth and help set the mood for the rest of the workshop.

VISIONING: The students reflect on the story and use it as a jumping off point for
creating a vision of what they feel is important in a world we can all look
forward to.

EARTH HONOURING: The students engage in a creative activity to celebrate what is possible, to honour the earth and to make a commitment to working towards the vision.

CREATING: The students will have the opportunity to choose how they want to take immediate action.  For this project, I donate 40% of my workshop earnings to making the world a better place.  For me, this piece is about engaging the
students right then and there in working to co- create the world they
envision.  The students choose where this money will go.  It can either be a simple
vote on different options that are presented, or if the teacher wants to carry
this forward, they can turn it into a bigger class project that this money can
go towards supporting.

LOCATION:  The workshop can be adapted to
different locations, but needs access to some green space, preferably with
trees (Centennial Park is an ideal location).

INLCUDED:  The workshop includes one copy of A World Worth Imagining (other copies are available at a discounted rate), 4 hours facilitation and supplies.
